Nighttime bruxism can place extreme pressure on your teeth, sometimes producing sounds noticeable to others. More importantly, it can damage teeth, supporting bone, gums, jaw joints, and existing dental work, while also causing morning muscle soreness and increasing the frequency and intensity of headaches.

While it was once believed that bruxism was mainly caused by emotional stress, current understanding suggests that multiple factors may contribute to this condition.
