Procedure
Bite on gauze for 30 minutes to 1 hour after the extraction. If bleeding continues, use fresh gauze for another 30–60 minutes. Contact the office if bleeding persists.
Do not rinse your mouth or spit for the remainder of the day.
Avoid using straws or sucking on mints or candy for the rest of the day.
To reduce discomfort, take an appropriate dose of Tylenol or Motrin (chewable or tablet) before the anesthetic wears off.
Take all prescribed medications exactly as directed.
Maintain good oral hygiene, but clean gently around the extraction site for the first 24–48 hours.
Drink plenty of fluids and follow a soft diet for 24–48 hours after the extraction.
Avoid strenuous activities for the rest of the day.
If pre-medication was given, monitor your child closely during all activities for the remainder of the day.
