Dental Fillings Aftercare Procedure

Eat soft foods for the rest of the day following your procedure.

Maintain good oral hygiene, but clean gently around the filling for the first 24–48 hours.

Temporary sensitivity or mild soreness may occur and should gradually improve.

If your filling feels “high” or uneven, contact our office for an adjustment, as improper bite alignment can lead to sensitivity or damage to the filling.

Take Aspirin, Tylenol, Advil, Ibuprofen, or Nuprin before the anesthetic wears off and as needed to manage discomfort.

For children, monitor closely to prevent biting or chewing on the tongue or lip while numb (typically lasting 1½ to 3 hours).
